About

Hi, I'm Greg.

I'm the tech guy your family texts. Slow laptop. Weird Wi-Fi. Printer that won't connect. Mac that sounds like a jet engine. Someone in my life has asked me about each of those this month. I've been doing this informally for 20 years, and at some point I realized I was typing the same answer over and over. So I started writing them down here.

To be clear about what I'm not: I'm not a plumber, electrician, or handyman. When my toilet runs, I call someone. When a breaker needs adding, I call someone. I'm happy to pay pros for work I don't want to do. What I will share is how to find a goodpro — that part I've gotten pretty dialed in over the years.

What I know cold: PCs and Macs, networking, security, homelab, prosumer gear, 3D printing, and the boring-but-important stuff like desk setups, chargers, and the office chair that will stop you from getting back pain in your forties. Those are the main sections here. The household tips are the side dish.

The product recommendations are things I have personally used. I sit in a Herman Miller Sayl. I run a UniFi Dream Router. My rack has a Bambu A1 next to it. I'm not being paid by any of those companies. I do use Amazon affiliate links, which means I earn a small commission if you buy through one of my links — at no extra cost to you. That's how the lights stay on around here.

If something on this site helped you, great. If you want to say thanks, the tip jar is there. If you have a question or a fix I haven't covered yet, send a mail. I read everything.
